Guide for a Mindful Journey to La Gomera
The island of La Gomera helps us to understand life away from the “noises” to which we find people used to it in many cities or large capitals. By noise I mean to stress, to the frenetic pace of everyday life, to road speed, to the fact of talking almost screaming, to the excessive consumption of things we don't need... La Gomera is absolutely the opposite of this common and deep-rooted way of life.
On this island, money loses much of its value; material consumption is very limited, transferring that purchasing power to outdoor activities and to the relationships between “the same”.
The landscapes, ravines and its people are spectacular. But I would say that the real The island's potential lies in how its tranquility invites you to introspection, to reflect. Allow you to stop and turn off the noise. This makes the experience of getting to know the island in something unforgettable, since the one you are really meeting is yourself. In addition, the climate, the terraced houses in their pronounced ravines and the absence of a mass hotel tourism in much of the island often connects us with ideas of self-sufficiency, that great utopia that our ancestors made possible, and that today seems unattainable. Is it really possible?
I was lucky to discover this little paradise years ago, to connect with its energy, its humility, his good people and his slow pace. Years later, I wanted to come back and teach my family all the possibilities offered by this barely inhabited island. And what better way to how to get to know this wonderful island by touring it in a van? This is how we met. Paula and Igor, a wonderful family, living on the island and loving tranquility, and their great Furgomera project, with which they promote respectful and sustainable tourism.
Quickly our families connected. Your disposition, closeness, knowledge of the island and customs, and of course, the family “warmth”, made us feel at home. It was created the synergy, and today we are still connected by a vision of life in which time is currency and respectful upbringing, the food that fills us inside.
