Exploring the island of La Gomera in one of our campers is a unique experience that allows you to immerse yourself in the natural wealth of this Canarian destination. La Gomera, renowned for its impressive biodiversity, is a paradise for nature lovers. From its lush forests of Laurisilva up to its coastal cliffs, the island offers a variety of ecosystems that are home to a great diversity of flora and fauna. In addition, traveling in a camper allows us to spend the night in privileged places and wake up every day surrounded by the natural beauty of the island.

One of the natural jewels of La Gomera is the Garajonay National Park, a site declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. This park is famous for its laurisilva forests, a type of subtropical humid forest that covered much of southern Europe in the tertiary era. Nowadays, it is one of the few places in the world where this type of vegetation can still be found. Trees such as Laurel, the lime tree and the vinatigo form a dense green mantle, home to many endemic plant species. The giant ferns and mosses hanging from the branches create an almost magical landscape, ideal to be explored on foot after a quiet night in the camper.

The fauna of La Gomera is also impressive. In its forests and coasts, we can find a variety of birds, reptiles and mammals. Among the birds, species such as the Blue finch, a species endemic to the Canary Islands, and the Common Kestrel, which can be seen in clear skies. Reptiles also have their place on the island, with species such as La Gomera giant lizard, an endangered species that is a symbol of Gomera biodiversity. Traveling by van allows us to move freely and look for the best places to observe these species in their natural habitat.

The coasts of La Gomera are another highlight for nature lovers. The waters surrounding the island are home to rich marine life, including dolphins and whales. During our trip, we can park the camper near beaches such as Gran Rey Valley and enjoy water activities such as snorkeling or kayaking. With a little luck, it is possible to spot these majestic cetaceans in their natural environment, creating unforgettable memories. In addition, the island's beaches and cliffs are ideal for enjoying spectacular sunsets, with the sound of the sea like soundtracks.

The flexibility offered by our campers allows us to explore lesser-known corners of La Gomera, such as its ravines and interior valleys. Here, the flora changes, and we find xerophilous plants adapted to the driest conditions, such as The Cardones and the Tabaibas. These landscapes contrast with the green forests of Garajonay, showing the ecological diversity of the island. Camping in these places allows us to enjoy the tranquility and silence, away from the tourist bustle.

Traveling in a camper gives us the opportunity to live a more sustainable and environmentally friendly experience. La Gomera is a place of great ecological value, and it is important that our visit contributes to its conservation. By choosing to spend the night in our van, we minimize the impact on tourism infrastructure and can adopt responsible practices, such as collecting our waste and following the rules of protected natural areas. In this way, we not only enjoy nature, but we also contribute to its preservation for future generations.
